Finals Season

Guys, I don't feel like doing homework. I have a Biology test tomorrow that I haven't started studying for. Things are busy but dulled in my mind! What's going on? Sometimes, I think we look to the future too much. We have to live for the now. Yes. Nothing is guaranteed... right? That's what I'm telling myself, at least.

Since Thanksgiving break, I've become an inarticulate mess, and my apathy levels are at an all time high. I'm preoccupied with artistic endeavors and the desire to revamp the blog (and kick some life into it). This is just like last year, when I watched Asian dramas during finals season. I always seem to do the most unhealthy things when under strain.

Anyways, I got this street style photo at the trunk show that was featured in bullets and mullets a few weeks ago. I love the boots and the grungy thing she's got going on! I'm glad to see the 90s are still alive and kicking. Nirvana, Pearljam, and Radiohead, of course... those were the days.

Anyways, it might be too late for me, but y'all must continue to go forth. Study on without me!
Right,

Jenn

Summer Daze

Thanksgiving break went by in a blur, such a sweet mixture of peace and celebration. I didn't realize how much I had missed my dad until I spent a week with him... we ate Chinese food every night. If I hadn't been away at college for so long, subject to a slew of American and quasi-cultural food, I might have protested, as I used to do. But there's no telling you how much I missed peking duck and dumplings and seasoned bamboo shoots... and lots of other stuff that would probably sound unsavory to an American appetite. Most of what I eat sounds disgusting but tastes delicious. Yum.

Weather back in Atlanta was unseasonably warm. I left for school Sunday morning and the air was crisp but lacking bite, a perfect lukewarm temperature. However, Nashville today was a polar opposite, with biting cold whipping at my legs and face. How I miss the days of summer, when everything was so simple. T-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes, and you'd be set. Maybe a simple skirt and a crop top, sandals. I miss the warm, sometimes even caustic, cradling of the sun. Despite all the ugly sweat and lethargy of the summer, it is still my favorite season, infinitely preferable to the short days of Winter. They past so fast! I feel like life moves too quickly, but it's really just an unsavory tilt adding to my delusions.

To remind you of how carefree those Summer days were, I'll cite a street style photo to evoke those lovely memories. Don't you remember the days when it was too easy to finish a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream because it'd melt around your spoon as soon as you scooped it? Those were the days.

Too bad it's a pipe dream that won't be 'round for least another 6 months! Until then, stay warm.

At The Trunk Show

Oh man, this last week has been a complete trip. I feel like I'm always coming on here a week late, regaling y'all with tales of how harrowing my week has been, or how sick I feel, or how many midterms I have coming up. And I've totally got to apologize to you guys for that. Seriously. One last time. Getting my act together and whatnot. But instead of the negatives, I'd like to talk about the cool little break I got to enjoy last Saturday with Southern Scum's trunk show.

Last Saturday, Joe and I ventured into the Gulch (loved it) to check out a trunk show featuring a local Nashville designer. That is to say, Southern Scum! It was featured in the boutique Bullets and Mullets, located on 1108 Division Street in The Gulch of Nashville (37203).

Here's a link to their Tumblr, so check it out if the photos below pique your interest. We took some spare shots of the merchandise and designs and even got to model a few. The anchor design on the back of the sweatshirt Joe chose was my personal favorite. Love the incorporation of the two S's... Anyways, from what I understand, they're brand is now here to stay, so make sure to visit them at the Gulch!

Try to ignore my facial expression here. I don't know what I'm doing.

One last blurry picture for the road. Anyways, check these guys out; they're great!

Jenn

A Graceful Fall

Sorry guys, it's been a hellish week and I believe I've spent more time in bed sleeping off illness rather than spending time in, I don't know, the fashion world... Or school, even. Luckily I find myself on the mend and hopefully ready to get a few great street style shots before Thanksgiving soothes my soul with copious amounts of cranberry sauce and more solitude than I can handle. I will probably knit something... Oh, the horror.

As for a life update, today Joe and I went to a trunk show in Downtown/Hipster Nashville (You know, The Gulch) for a local brand called "Southern Scum." We saw a few of their pieces and designs, met the designers, who were pretty cool, and even modeled a few... Hopefully those pictures will be up very soon. It was an enjoyable experience! Anyways, it was really the first time I'd ever been down there (bursting out of that Vanderbubble) and it was quite a fascinating part of town. Just walking down the street, there was a constant flurry of beards and scarves and thick-rimmed glasses... I felt like I was home.

Back in Vandyland, I was fortunate enough to get one of my favorite street style shots yet yesterday! If you remember Amanda, from the "Pumpkin" post I did in late September/early October (previously "Anonymous"), I ran into her again wearing an adorable mint-green jacket, rust-orange panel boots, vest, and a brilliant paisley tie. The entire ensemble had great employment of color and layering... I was really swept away! I honestly loved this outfit... this just reminds me of why I put out a street style blog in the first place. I know I'm raving at this point... but it's been a hard month... just humor me, guys. Anyways, awesome outfit, I'm happy I got a photo.

Have a great weekend!

Love,

Jenn

P.S. Will update more I promisseeeee

Dog Days

I know that people often refer to Summer as the "dog days of Summer," and despite Florence & The Machine's lovely song claiming that those days are over now, I feel like they've rather just begun. I'm ill-equipped to handle the trials that life throws at me one after another--this time it happens to be an actual spot of illness, but it'll pass. And after that, a Physics test!

Today I have a street style post for you of Louisa. She's actually a fashion blogger herself, and you can check out her blog, Circa Sunday Afternoon, Here. It's full of lovely personal style/outfit posts and a lot of snapshots from a charming daily life. Anyways, her black maxi skirt caught my eye last Friday and I loved the way she paired it with her bag and belt. It's always inspiring to see other people who are interested in blogging or fashion or any combination of the two. Enjoy!

Children Don't Grow Up

Happy Saturday, folks, and though Vanderbilt has just suffered a blow to football (shady game!), that doesn't change the fact that it's a beautiful day and I've finally gotten around to updating The Sardoreialist! Yay. The Sun is at times glaringly hot, at times elusive, and I just watched a newly-wed couple and their wedding party come down the steps of Vanderbilt's Divinity school... That's a sign of good things, right? General Goodness? I will assume that the answer is "yes."

Today I have another picture for you of Joe (from Stranger Danger) and Elina, the latter of whom I met when talking to Joe. Joe is seriously one of those people who knows practically everybody on Campus. That's great, though, because I can mooch street style photos from his fashionable friends, such as Elina! I loved her vibrant red coat and the floral dress peeking out from below... and Joe had some serious "street" going on in his outfit. Good layering!

Alright guys,

Have a great weekend! Realize all of your dreams!

Love,

Jenn

Bluegrass

Oh jeez, I've been a very bad blogger... I blame it on the Bio test and the Speech I have due this week and the tenuous threads of life that are eternally gripping and fraying at the edges. I do have an outfit post for you today, and things should stop being so damn hectic after I reach Friday, 10:00 am. I will rejoice and sing from the rooftops. I can almost taste the sweet freedom... Yum, tastes like Alligators. Which tastes like chicken.

Blah.. total senior portrait shot!

The story behind this dress is that it was my mother's in the 80s. Now that she's in China and not coming back until May, it's nice to feel like I'm close to her, at least through some of the clothes she let me pilfer. I love the full skirt and would wear it far more often if the collar just wasn't so huge. Like, what.

I'm outside enjoying the last few days of nice weather, but even the sun has resigned, and as shall I.

Love,

Jenn
